Y axis travel issues

![]() 13 forum posts 7 photos | Thanks Roy 3/8" BSF and 3/8" Whitworth nuts are now on order. I'll post the answer when they arrive. My second question concerns the gearbox. Before refurbishment, I could only select 2 of the 3 gears, and even those were difficult to engage. I stripped the gearbox down and cleaned it all up. Everything looked to be in excellent condition, with no play in the shafts. However, the gears are a very close fit. With the front cover off, I could engage all 3 gear positions, but it took a bit of 'jiggling' to select each gear. Now that the front cover is back on and I can't see inside, it is even more difficult to select each gear. Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, any suggestions as to how to fix it? I saw a picture of another Tom Senior M1 mill where a longer gear selector lever had been fitted which suggests that it may a be an issue which others have encountered. Andrew

![]() 13 forum posts 7 photos | Thanks also to old mart. Having got the knucklehead assembly back in place, I see that the 3 screws which hold the front cover in position are also missing. The drawing indicates a 3/16" hole. If anyone can provide me with the screw length, that would be great. Andrew

1716 forum posts | Put a small drill shank down the hole and measure the length, then use a slightly shorter screw |
