6 forum posts 3 photos | Hi Jeff, yes read through it, I don’t actually have any other numbers marked on the bed. Was trying to see if anyone had any other info on what the 71/1104 meant? |

744 forum posts 375 photos | Would this be some form of casting no., especially as Johann and Matts machines both have the 1104. Colin |

1394 forum posts 103 photos | If you look at the Myford spare parts lists for the ML7 & Super 7, there are several components that have part numbers in the form 70something - 4 digits - single digit. The finish machined bed casting has a different part number (A8724 for a Super 7 in the parts list I have), but it could be that the 71/1104/7 is an internal part number for the raw bed casting - it does look rather "cast in" as opposed to "stamped on" to me. 6 forum posts 3 photos | I think you guys may be right and thanks for the input. When I Google just “Myford 71/1104” I get Super 7’s and such so it’s likely not a serial number but instead some lot number type thing. Now to find my actual SN? The lathe is in my garage sort of inaccessible now so when I go to set it up (workshop is getting reno’d) I’ll see if I can spin it around better to have a look. Thanks for everyone’s help. |

![]() 7881 forum posts 397 photos | Thats a casting number used in the foundry to identify castings and patterns so Myford ends up with lathe beds and Aga ends up with stove doors and so forth. Possibly identifies the year but quite possibly not. Even then it could sit in Myfords yard destressing for years before being machined. If you stick a mirror over behind the right hand end of your lathe bed right behind the tailstock area you should see the serial number stamped on the vertical machined surface if the rear main slideway. The Myford users manual shows a drawing of where. Its available for free download all over the net. Edited By Hopper on 24/02/2021 08:19:19 |
