![]() 173 forum posts 102 photos | I absolutely agree that boring bars are to some degree flexible and thus have a certain amount of give. Nevertheless, the problem is increased by the crabbing on this old lathe. As I stated, the problem was reduced to a degree by cleaning and tightening up the gib, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is an older machine with a certain amount of wear. I'll continue to use the machine until a better option comes along, being careful of how I use boring bars not forgetting (lots of) the spring passes.
