7227 forum posts 21 photos | Since, at present, the calliper is U/S, you have nothing to lose by taking it apart, (Carefully). If you can find the source of the problem, fix it, and reassemble it so that it works, you have a working dial calliper, and greater confidence and knowledge. Something happened to it over all the years in the drawer, it may be another kami kaze insect, that once given a decent burial, will allow the instrument to function again. (Once, our doorbell used to ring, for no good reason. Evicting the earwig cured the problem!) GO FOR IT! Howard |

![]() 327 forum posts 20 photos | Earwigs seem to have an exceptionally low resisitivity. I remember one tracking across the switching mechanism in parents' washing machine programmer, taking it out of action and leaving a remarkable carbon track! |
