586 forum posts 151 photos | Hi studs say bronze which is what I’ve made and 5BA, would it be a bad idea to loctite in these 4 studs? Or could that just spin them out. |

586 forum posts 151 photos | Thanks again for everyone’s time, it’s surprising how this hobby can go from fun to damm right misery for me..all because of 3mm wrong position and I hate things having to be bodged to work. |

586 forum posts 151 photos | So made up a bronze bolt, and its a tight fit in the hole, i do wonder if 648 loctite would hold this in really well and be just as good as screwing it in? i can of course try and screw in from inside but I will have to get some tweezer or something to hold them. |

586 forum posts 151 photos | Just an update, have now got a stripped thread. so I’m going to give up on this engine I think, I’ve ruined a good boiler that I waited a year for and can’t see how I can fix myself as I’m limited on skills, knowledge and equipment. the bolt from inside went in after 2 hours of trying but went very wonky and when removed the thread was bigger so bolt from above now doesn’t tighten. oh well I guess I did my best on the build, but I hate bridging things and I can’t see a way out that I can do. |

586 forum posts 151 photos | I guess I could try and make sure one of these, drill the thread out and make it so I can pull through a bolt with a smooth shoulder, i may even be able to loctite in if make it a nice snug fit, I’m going to walk away for now as I feel very disappointed, sorry I don’t know how to rotate picture |

586 forum posts 151 photos | Hi All i just wanted to say thank you for everyone’s help, I must found very despondent. i waited a year for the boiler, and I managed to drill the stud holes without problems all fit this strengthening plate to be in the wrong place and ruining what was great. now I have 3 holes that MAY strip and one that has, and I know you have all done your best to help but it’s still very disappointing. i did try the inside out fixings but dropped screw three times which took an hour to get out, and when did get one in it went at such an angle it ruined the threads. so I’m sorry if I’ve sounded a right misery but I just feel downhearted after a year of waiting and I’m worried boiler is ruined. |
