Would it be a no-no to use a bought in ball screw rather than make the acme thread shown in the plans. Laziness and lack of ability has driven this question, if I've made a goof,please be gentle !!

Thread: Angle sensor using steering angle transducer

Does anyone with a knowledge of auto electronics know if it could be possible to utilise a steering angle transducer usefully to provide angle display for rotary table etc?

There are many available on fleabay from a tenner upwards, Mercedes seem very reasonable !!
