22/03/2017 21:16:14

One year after the Brussels atacks again we are shocked by another barbaric act. Regardless of Brexit we as Europa must stay together and form one front against those very sick persons who do this. Niko.

Thread: Stalling Lathe
24/02/2017 00:54:00

Before you make adjustments, which should be minimal, mark the position of the split collar and the left adjusting ring for rear bearings. It gives you more control over what you are doing and you can easily return to the original setting. Niko.

Thread: Model engine brass shim 0.05mm thick
23/02/2017 12:13:02

Brass of 0.05 mm also cuts easily with a knive around a template. Niko.

When you go with a small 1 mm thick brass strip along the cap, it very quickly takes on the profile of the teeth and takes out all dirt and filings. Niko.

I have had similar with my S7. it turned out it was the no volt release switch which had the contacts burned, so do check that before you take things apart. Niko.

I have used these suppliers end of last year, they were the cheapest for quality goods I could find and were quick with shipping. **LINK**

The spacing of the T-slots differ, so you cannot secure the ML7 topslide on the S7 using the T-slots. Niko.

Thread: How often are you alligning your lathes?
05/11/2016 10:32:42

I leveled the 2 lathes I have 15 years or so ago, checked them now and then but no movement at all. They stand on non reinforced concrete on sand, with ground water level at around 10 m. Niko.

Thread: Myford ML7 using Super 7 parts
29/10/2016 22:08:50

I do not think that apart from the leadscrew and rack there differences are between the standard and longbed versions. I know the holes in of the longbed rack does not match that of the standard bed because I stil have a longbed rack waiting to fit onto my standard bed S7 to get the maximum travel out of saddle when all limits are removed. Niko.

Thread: ML7 cabinet , bolt to floor or rubber feet?
28/10/2016 07:33:43

Before you bolt is to the floor, do check if the lathe height is comfortable, I with 1.86 m find the original cabinet to low and raised it by 13 cm. Niko.

It is the galley crew taking part in "The Great Britisch Bake off ". Niko.

Thread: Circle Heat tTreatment

I would first try to work the inside of the ring with a small hammer, so the inside curve of the ring expands and the diameter gets larger. Niko.

Thread: Soldering brass mesh.
13/10/2016 21:46:15

This is widely used in the Netherlands **LINK** on the Dutch website you find more products special for difficult to (soft) solder materials and for stainless which I do not see on the English website. Pure copper has nothing to do with brass which is an alloy of (pure) copper and sinc as already said, perhaps you can ask the supplier for advice. Niko.
