I would be very suprised if those bids will turn into real cash.
Things like that are plagued by people who feel the need to inflate themselves for the 30 secs they are Chris Evans's "friend"

Hello Chris,

I think you are right there, it is a bit like these people who have £500,000.00 and want to escape to the country, they want something like Chatsworth for their dough but never take the plunge, they just want 30 minutes on TV.

They could become a lot more popular and rewrite on the forum.

We are supporting our Grandsons school "Children in Need" campaign that way two lots of children get something out of it. They learn they need to do things to get money and they also learn to be charitable to others, thats it no more preaching this year.

Gray,

Gray,

Gray

I agree with you that Children in Need is a worthy cause and it's nice that you involve yourself in supporting them & your Grandson at the same time, yes

I'm more than happy if you bang on a bit about charities like that , the only thing I'd say it to check how much is taken up with "admin" and how much goes to the "needy" I did and was very surprised. I'll try and find a link and post it.

Chris

Check the other threads about cutting fluid for various views.

I did wonder if you were going to seal the edge of the base to stop it leaking down the bolt holes as there was no mention of a gasket in the install reports.

Oh yes I did read a post where it was recomended and so I did it.

I forgot to mention that smiley

Do you think there is mention of a vms's particular cutting fluid problems ?

Chris

13/11/2012 13:39:42
Also ran a hose from the table rhs down to the reservoir.
Also I've drilled 2 small holes in the back of the base so the fluid can escape.
Getting over the lip in the tray may require a gutter system under the tray and a few holes drilled.
How do others cope I wonder.
Like the idea of the atomiser.

So whichever platform you plump for, you can still be at risk and still be a host if you choose not to install security updates.

Martin.

Indeed that is correct, what I would add is that the security updates come as a reaction to new visuses, if you are unlucky, it's too late.

I would say it like a battlefield out there, not clicking links etc is really good practice as is staying away from dodgy sites !!. Best of all is why have a PC when it's a bullet magnet (almost exclusivly targeted by viruses) get a Mac and stay out of the firing line without any alterations.

Ady, i don't have a couple of days to spare to bugger around reloading windows and all my software, and why would I, it's working just fine, but then it should be considering it was loaded into a brand new 7200RPM 500GB drive a couple of months back, And all unecessary services disabled!

Guys, Please, I'm not asking for Microsoft opinions, if it's your cup of tea, fine, enjoy your drink, but it's become unpallatable for me and I'm looking for an alternative!

I would like to know from current Mac users whether they're as secure and stable as they're cracked up to be, but it looks like folks are keeping their heads down, private emails would be just as much appreciated!

John

Simple answer = YES

You can run windows on you mc in a partition if you want.
There is a mac version of microsoft office.
Updates are free until they go to a new version but they are only £15 or so.
I don't run any extra anti-virus at all, no problems so far.
If you can afford it get a mac.

It works well enough but the fluid settles in every nook and cranny of the machine rather than go back to the reservoir.
I am going to need to drill a few drain holes and make some modifications I think.

...and I'm not sure that the Warco manual circuit diagram ties up with the current switchgear. However, there is a circuit diagram behind the panel on the back of the column which I presume is correct.

I drilled out those other two holes this afternoon - just put a 10mm drill through them - and fitted bolts with nuts beneath. All now firmly secured.

Neal

Did you get the suds pump ?

I did but I'm not having the easiest time of things.

Chris,

If you haven't discovered it already, Grizzly in the States produce an excellent downloadable manual for the G3102/G3103 Mill, which is their version of the VMC. It's far better than the thing that Warco produce. The only part of it which is not applicable is the section dealing with the electrics.

Brian

Now that is a good tip, thanks

I pleased to say that my stand & mill fitted well together.
I think the VMC is a good mill despite all these problems that are reported.
I feel that Warren Tools do not do enough work around the edges of selling these machines.
So many of the problems that I have encountered could be sorted easily with a bit of care.
By that I mean installation guides, maybe some on-line videos. All very cheap to produce.
The delivery service needs sharpening up for sure.
I have a pal who warned me that Warren Machine Tools only seem interested until you have paid your money and after that....
I'm not sure I would go that far but instead of a warm glow I am feeling a little dissapointed.

No won't cut better, just stay sharper longer

Assuming that was in reply to my post John, would that not make it a better cutter ?

11/11/2012 14:50:51
Thanks for all the info guys, there is certainly plenty to wade through.

Chris

So for general ME is a TiN coated cutter better than HSS ?
I guess it is.

I have tried to contact JB Cutting Tools to make sure the information on the website is correct, however there is no number listed in Directory Enquiries. I will try to find out the facts tomorrow.

Diane

If you find out Diane could you post it or message me please.

Thanks

Thanks Chris

Ctrl x, etc works fine. (I could not find a cmd key)

Ian

Sorry I thought you were one of the cool kids with an Apple.

Try using cmd and x for cut and cmd c for copy and cmd v for paste.

Chris

The £800 is probably a reasonable price if you take into account the cost of the castings and, more importantly, the time it will take to build one.

I have been flogging away at a Stent for some years on and off. It is an interesting project but the cost of the bits alone would buy quite a lot of cutters and enable you to get on with other projects.

Norman

I'm coming round to that school of thought myself.
