Thread: Collet help required |

Now those ER 20 seem to be modified to sort of fit ER16... The max dia of the collet on a ER 20 is basically 21 And ER 16 is 17 Your seem to be 18.. and as you say a bit big for the holder The length of er20 is 31.5 and them 16 27.5 |

ER 20.. Now about the other.. Sorry there are a large number of similar and in some cases special to a gived machine tool supplier... I can't help much there |

Obviously you have two types here. The 30 mm ones are a ER series..give me a mo and I will look em up The other is a bit harder |

Looking at that from avr freaks.. One...its in effect a dimmer. It even sniffs the ac...so the sw could switch (both fets on) at zero crossing... Bit confused over the IR sensors with switch to short out but ho hum |

Neil..and what I mean is that the ramps isn't exclusively arduino...conveniently yes but not to be overlooked if using pi. Pic.or otherwise.. |

As has been said. ALL machines "flex"..as does work and tools 200k cncs too The question is how much Anyway in your setup this would be called a springing cut... Acut taken at same setting to allow for this flex. |

Having championed the ramps previously. .. The ramps isn't " arduino" compatible any more than than any circuit anything compatible. The pin out fits a particular arduino model The ramps basically acts to breakout these pins and add some hardware interface. ( sockets for stepper drivers...three 5 amp fets... Five rc servo ports...and more. And other bits/bobs.. If you are expecting a shield with handy-dandy library ..sorry |

Gates do fail sc But yeah a couple of R saved is well worth it. ![]() |

Well I find proding those carriers a bind.. |

I wonder.. If you take a sphere of say steel..and a given wall thickness and radius..how much WORK consequently energy..does it take to meet the yield tensile strength of the steel?.. Anyone?.. Regardless of how scary the pressure peaks..work must be done to overcome the "surface" tension of the steel bubble |

JA...8KJ is 8 kJ however fast or slow its delivered. 8KJ as has been said equates to say 20Watt light bulb for 400 seconds.... In comparison mobile fone battery. . 2 amp hour at 3V..60*60*2*3= 21.6 KJ Edited By jason udall on 24/11/2015 16:04:03 |

Flyback/catch diodes for the mosfets loads. To appease Justin.
I might also suggest header/dip switch for ms0 -2..one never knows when it might be handy. . ( if you have the spare bits maybe micro controlled)..also ..vref on the stepper carriers..lead it out because accessing it on the polo is fiddly. Edited By jason udall on 24/11/2015 15:52:16 |

Also worth a look is codys lab ---atomic drain cover... Were he recreats on a scale the experiment conducted by the atomic energy dept. Of putting nuke down a well..and launching a drain cover... From a period when the world had just discovered nukes and needed to play |

Joe..have a look at the reactor vessel's used for explosive ( or thermal) deburring. . |
24/11/2015 10:12:29 |
U tube can have good stuff..too. One chap built a chemical reactor cell... Thick wall gas pipe..threaded..end caps..plunger (loose piston)..just long enough to be nipped buy end caps.. Fill with reactants..add piston..screw on caps....bake.... Yields the graphine film. .desired |

Sounds a bit like a chap I saw who built a ( I think it was called a fuzor)..basically internally "nano coated"( I would have said sputtered) spheres..arranged at the vertices of a tetrahedron. .and filled with special goo..then spun... He carefully built this and set ip live video feed...to wait for the "anomalous" behaviour. .claimed for it.... ( some sort of overunity/antigraviry thing)... ..the connection? ..just the how of the sputtering. .fuse wire..cap bank..and splat.. |

Dont sweat it guys. Note the premise...Britain's Most Spectacular Backyard Builds.. Kind of says it all. |

Neil. I don't have the ramps schematic to hand.. But from memory it (and is normal practice anyway) has a resistor to ground and in series with the gate of the mosfets...gate looks like a significant cap...so a bit of limit for the microcontroller outputs... Also the ramps layout has one or to considerations for the care and feeding of the the stepper carriers. .. Thats all I see.. .. again the ramps has decoupling and power planes ... |

And there you have it. " why re invent the wheel"... Materials change. Processing changes... THE solution is not always the only solution and may not be the best with availability of materials/process. |
