Thread: 2 stroke glow engine

It,s probably a generic Chinese engine if it has no makers name on it. yes it should be tight at TDC if it is a ringless piston known as ABC for aluminium (piston),brass(liner),chrome(plating of liner) although the materials may have changed these days. I would break it in with a smaller prop say a 10 x 6 glass filled nylon to keep it lightly loaded with a rich mixture to start with but let it rev. Short runs of about five minutes and let it cool down in between. After four or five runs like that it should be good to go.

NDIY , yes, you are right about only pilots with previous fast-jet experience go from simulator to solo.

But that was my point , there are no Typhoon 'trainer' aircraft.

Two heads in there I think.

My Dad managed to break the switch on the stairlift with his bum, when I phoned up the dealer about a new switch they quoted a price of £180. I got a replacement from RS for 18 pence.

Thread: Motor control board

I bought brushes for my 210 lathe from Amadeal for a fiver just a couple of weeks ago, turns out it was the control board had released the magic smoke. I've now gone brushless with a kit from Aliexpress.

Thread: Brazing brass help

I was thinking that you could probably form the curve just by tightening the screws when you fit it to the door. I am an ex member of the Taunton club ( I have been looking after my mum for the last four years, but now I have a bit of time on my hands)

Having a bit more surface area would make it easier to solder, how thin is the facia panel going to be?

Yes, the ears are very small and fiddly to all keep aligned. How else could I design it to be easier to fabricate?

Could they be made as small blocks instead? Also I would use threaded sleeves to about half the depth of the door to give plenty of latitude when tightening up the screws.

Just ordinary mild steel (EN1 ?) I doubt that I'll ever wear them out frown.

I found an old can of Duckhams 20/50 in the garage. All I did was heat it up until it went dark and dunk it in the oil.

16/08/2019 17:05:18

Had a go at hot oil blacking.

I'm quite pleased with the result.

Thread: Safety Glasses

I have a pair of Uvex varifocal safety specs from Vision Express "That'll be £450 please."disgust Still I wouldn't be without them, the main concern was looking up from the work to look across the workshop to find tools, etc.

Thread: Collet Chucks out of true
04/08/2019 20:52:45

At the risk of teaching granny to suck eggs, you did throughly clean the morse taper in the spindle first?

Its very easy to just bop the chuck into the spindle and tighten the drawbar and forget to check if the taper has any swarf buildup.

Dovetail Cutters

I know it says wood but they worked very nicely in mild steel when I made some toolholders for my lathe a few weeks ago.
