Thread: Tom Senior E
29/03/2022 11:46:20

Can anyone give me the details of the drive belt for a Tom Senior E mill please -and where I can get one? Mine is getting rather worn and I'd like a replacement as soon as possible.

Many thanks

Thread: Digital Height Gauge Recommendations?

I've just bought a beautiful Chesterton Vernier Height Gauge complete with all accesories - does anybody know where I can find a set of instructions particularly for those ?

Thread: Neat cutting oil. (recommendation)
17/02/2022 10:12:47

Regrettably Morrisons now only sell CoraB in 25 litre or 250L quantities. 25L is ~£160+VAT - which is a bit much for me in both quantity and price. Anybody got any suggestions for an alternative? Many thanks

Thread: Taper on connecting rod
01/04/2020 12:24:47

..thank you all for responding - the problem was definately feeding using the carriageto feed instead of the top slide.

Made one from scrap yesterday - perfect (well amost) - more practice today.

John - re your comment on the slight taper - it was my measuring error and poor recollection when writing: the real error is negligible - something like 0.0001 - but thanks for the suggestion.

..............this all makes sense - thank you: will spend a happy afternoon turning BMS into swarf - and let you know the results.

Hi Nigel - nope - moving the carriage.

Hi Andrew - things to do when not gliding! -, I thought it was about 1.8 degrees offset but got very little change in diameter over the 1". Luckily using scrap BMS as test pieces rather than castings! 'Almost' parallel is about 5 thou.

Hello - I want to reduce the diameter of a connecting rod from 1/4" to 3/16" over a distance of 1".

I've tried setting ther topslide over but it still cuts almost parallel even at 10 deg. I've tried from 2.5 deg upwards.

What am I doing wrong?

Thread: Myford Lever Action Collet Chuck
22/05/2013 11:05:13

I too have just acquired a Myford lever action collet chuck and it works OK BUT I am having difficulty getting it tight enough on 1/8' rod to hold it whilst cutting thread. The knurled closer has no hole (and is hardened so not easy to drill one) so can only assume it relies upon hand tightening: I've used a large wrench but am concerned about damaging the knurles. Any ideas anyone?
