Hi John,I think i might have not have been as clear as i could with this post,sorry about that-must be clearer in future.My cva is a toolroom lathe and the problem is wth the cams that lock the chuck.When i looked closer it seems one of the lugs on the chuck backplate is solid and they should move a little i think,I will free it off and see if this makes any differance, fingers crossed.Thanks again John. glen

Good afternoon all,
The cams in the spindle of my cva lathe seem to be a bit worn and i was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a new set?.
Also, does anybody know the dates of cva serial numbers,one of mine is
S/N 1A 1526-kearney&trecker but no build date,the other is AJ958-AUG 1956.Any help on would be fantastic. regards-glen |

Update.On closer inspection of the tta i found three of the four bearings have shattered!,so i am going to strip the whole unit down as there are bits everywhere.should be fun

Gray, I will have to find out about the holbrook, sounds like a nice peice of kit.Has anybody got a No1 cva-the round one before they squared it off.It would be nice to see some photos if you don`t mind-never seen one

Hi Graham,thanks for the reply.It`s a mk1a series3 toolroom lathe-aug 56.based on a monarch10ee but without the electric problems,although if i could get my hands on a 10ee,drool!!!.I have been on tonys site-mechanical porn!.i will take it apart,just thought i might get some tips before i start.I`ve had the lathe for a while,just never got round to fetlin her.what model holbrook? glen |

Good morning ,This is my first post, so hello to you all.I have a cva lathe with a taper turning attachment fitted, i need to remove the crossslide-RUST,any idea what the procedure is?.The taper attachment needs a refurb anyway, just don`t want to take apart in wrong order.Thanks for any help given-glen |
