these 3 M sheets are fine !!!!! which is the abrasive side ? shiny side or dull side ?

thanks for the comments , I will let you know how it goes . could be that the piston needs more packing, I used graphite twine and had to remove some as I couldn't get the piston in , gone a bit slack now !!

thanks , that was quick !! I will dismantle it next week and have a go at lapping it , it could be a bit tight in the slot for the nut as well ., regards Phil

Hello I am a beginner having just finished my first engine , a Tina mill engine . My maching is not the best in the world , The engine will run but needs about 60 PSI of air pressure . The exhaust is constantly leaking air , am I right in thinking that the valve is not sealing properly ? Should I lap it onto the port face ?

on this lathe the chart  says that to cut some threads the spindle gear at the top must  work on the outside one of the 2 big gears ,  but  it will not line up , ie the gear  will not protude  far out enough   , Is there a way of moving  the spindle gear  or am I missing something ?  Regards Phil
