Simon

i just turn the pair on and it sets a channel via IR

the handbook as you say says

group A 568.125- 579.875 mhz

group B 580.125-591.875 mhz

transmitting power 15dbm

who is likely to feel my collar?

Bought the other day from amazon uk

should i send them back or is the risk small?

21/08/2022 15:15:35

Doh

i think i have cured it

i had the receiver into one channel and had left the other channel recording via the cameras internal mic

it was adjusting gain to get a signal even from 30 foot away

switching off the unused channel sorted it..or combining both channels also did it

21/08/2022 13:24:19

The transmitters were clipped to pockets with the mics (lavs) clipped to lapels

no amplification

the 2 volunteers were generally 6 ft apart most of the time walking around the garden

21/08/2022 12:48:19

I wanted to record a conversation with my mum who’s getting on a bit with various family members.

to this end i thought lavalier type mics would work well

so i bought a comica boomX-u system 2 transmitters and one receiver various wires etc including a xlr cable to connect to my camera

trying it yesterday in the garden with 2 volunteers walking around whilst i was 30 foot away recording theres an echo /reverb on it..if i switched one channel off all ok but with both channels on it sounds rough.

is it because both mics are picking up the conversation one with a fractional delay with speed of sound?

if so is this not the way to record 2 people should i just use one mic?

but comica sell 2 transmitters or 4 transmitter systems so how to avoid this problem?

Thread: Strange problem with jack plugs
01/08/2022 18:14:37

Before using the switched function on the sockets i was trying to get it to work with just 2 wires one to tip and one to sleeve..nothing I could do made any difference.

bought another brand of sockets and problem went away..so i now have a bag of 10 3 pole 1/4 sockets spare..

At the moment theres only 2 wires one to the sleeve and one to the tip and if i put a plug in good continuity to the wires and no measurable short.

the electronics in the stitcher head must be very sensitive to the resistance between poles on this brand of sockets

31/07/2022 12:39:37

Bill

it has 3 nc switches one for each pole

31/07/2022 12:24:31

Just another point if i have the machine switched on ready to go with no plug in the socket and remove one wire from the socket the machine triggers..place the wire back on and off again and it triggers …so its just like the socket is shorted..but my meters show no short.

31/07/2022 12:16:32

A customer let me have 2 stapling machines that the operators had damaged all the wiring that triggers the action

it was a 3.5mm jack socket with a switch in it to short the live to earth when the plug isn’t in it.

the 2 wires from the 3.5mm plug go to a foot switch with a nc v3 micro switch

when the plug isn’t in the machine theres a switch that operated by the action of putting paper in whilst in flat mode. The foot switch is used when saddle stitching.

so i thought I’d upgrade the sockets and plugs to 1/4 versions..however when i did this the machine wont work.

if i have the 2 wires coming out of the machine and hold them in my hands with me holding the bare conductors and disconnect them the machine wont trigger if i hold by the insulation it triggers when broken from its nc state.

so thats resistance from my skin?

but why wont these sockets and plugs work?

I know thats a stereo socket and a mono wire….the socket isn’t damp.

the 3.5mm in the picture is what was fitted.

any ideas?

Thread: online upgrades: Is it broken, a disabled feature, or customer gouging
14/07/2022 08:03:55

It’s similar to sewing machines my wife bought a £15k brother machine and theres 3 upgrades available for extra features at additional cost which just buys a number to enter into the control panel £400, £300 at time

Thread: Anyone an expert in kitchen knives
03/07/2022 14:04:56

V8 eng

your knife has that funny puddle type of area near the tang area

any idea what it is?

02/07/2022 18:28:57

There’s no makers marks or logos visible at all

02/07/2022 18:28:25

Another picture as i said the top near the handle is 60 thou but very quickly thins to less than 10th of and at the edge all along its 2-3thou

would it have been made like this?

many years ago someone said a knife like this was special as it has a funny area near the handle end visible in the 2nd photo above..something about how it made..

its really like a 3 thou length of feeler gauge with a thicker back7b88df64-8009-407e-adf6-5fd3ce6ab775.jpeg

02/07/2022 17:41:17

I think this one was probably sharpened on my grandparents door step

02/07/2022 17:30:10

Tony

i’m assuming it was made in sheffield as its been here for 70 years or so

02/07/2022 16:44:27

My mums had this knife for as long as she can remember

It’s got a simple round wooden handle all together its 10 inches long

the steel is impossibly thin at the edge……at the handle end its 60 thou at the top

the end and edge is only 2-3thou but it cuts brilliantly

can anyone shed any light on its makers..what its made of…etc?

Thread: I am going to buy a mill….Decisions, Decisions !!
26/06/2022 10:01:39

I must say that when buying anything new guarentee periods don’t sway me

if the product arrives and works as makers intended then its ok …so 3 months should be adequate to find any problems

on a mill (or lathe) the only problems you are likely to have are the motor and drive boards in time

anything else is really the operator and unlikely to be covered by warentee
