Thread: Confusing t-slot dimensions |
20/02/2021 22:19:40 |
My lathe, mill, shaper etc etc all have different t-slots. Like yourself I despaired at trying to find the right sizes. So made my own for each machine and just bought the standard 5, 8 and 10mm studs and nuts. Regards Barry |

Bought a 40mm shell mill from ARC but the MT2 hiders are out of stock, so decided to make my own. Turned up between centres and used the Boxfords taper turning attachment. Also put on a screwed ring to extract the taper from the quill. Barry |

Finished a three cylinder radial engine from a John-Tom design, but modified to suit the bits that were in my offcuts box. To my delight ran first time on assembly. Now just need to strip it down and polish out the few remaining machining marks and perhaps paint it when the workshops a bit warmer. Barry |

Thread: Boxford AUD clutch |
24/03/2020 22:16:44 |
Many moons ago ME workshop published plans for a counter shaft clutch for Myford lathes. Which is essentially what the Boxford option was. I did start to make the bits to modify the ME10 but other projects take over. Barry |

I have both a ME10 and an AUD. Don't have a clutch on either. A clutch was available as an extra on the ME10 but not on the AUD (not listed in the original list of options that I have) As nick sugests, motor with built in clutch, as I also nt see where one could be fitted on an AUD Barry |
Thread: Milling machine & Shaper query |

I have a Boxford shaper and a Tom Senior Mill. Use the shaper a lot for key slots in gears and pulleys etc. Also love the very fine finish that you can get on steel, almost a ground finish. Would never part with the shaper. |

Nigel. Yes the sample is about 1mm thick and I have used it on 1/16" anneal copper which is about the thickest I shall be doing. The darkened metal is just my bad lighting in the workshop. Although I do intend to blacken the steel to give a bit of rust protection. Barry |

Finished my geared bending rolls. Made to the design of GHT. I already have some 12" rolls that I used when I was making a boiler, they are to heavy and cumbersome, so made a set with 5" rolls. More useful for the small work I now do.

Thread: Imperial Milling Machine |
12/03/2019 09:32:08 |
I had the opposite. I bought a metric Tom Senior mill and being an old fart who can only work in Imperial. I fitted a three axis dro system to work in imperial. Since then I have never looked at the metric dials on the mill. |
Thread: Vertex BS-0 Dividing Head 1-1/8” BSW Myford Spindle Nose |

Again bought my BS-0 about ten or so years ago and it has a 2 mt spindle. Have never had a problem with an attached Myford chucks even with heavy milling cuts. Also made a Myford to Boxford spindle adapter to use the Boxfords chucks. |
