Thread: 3C Collet Backstop |
04/03/2012 16:03:57 |
When I bought my Boxford, many years ago, among other accessories I purchased the 3C collet attachment and as well as the standard set of Imperial collets, I purchased a set of BA hex collets. I have used them extensively over the years, but always wished that someone made a backstop for the 3C collets. So I finally got round to making one. As the 3C’s don’t have an internal thread like the 5C (at least any I’ve come across), I made it lock in place with an expanding sleeve. Extremely useful it has been, and so thought I would post a few pics in case anyone else is using 3C or indeed morse taper collets, just to show simple a stop is to make. Barry |
Thread: Strange angle ? |

As JasonB said the degree ring has come loose and moved. On my Boxford the ring was just stuck in (thin double sided tape). Years of oil and cutting fluid just released it. Cleaned it all up and used a drop of Loctite to re-fix it. |
Thread: Car Boot Sales |

At a car boot sale a few years ago, I was lucky enough to find a Gerstner solid oak tool chest for just £10. A bit dirty it may have been but cleaned up nicely and is totally undamaged in any way. Even had the keys in one of the little draws. |
Thread: Atkinson 3" Lorry |

Hope someone may be able to help. Building an Atkinson 6ton lorry, but one thing I can find no reference to on the plans is a water lifter. The plans show the hose brackets, so I assume a water lifter would have been fitted. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what was fitted and a source of a plan or photo of one.
Thanks in advance.

Thread: Indexing |
21/06/2010 21:01:13 |
A way to get the 96 divisions is to make up a small index plate with 12 holes. Then you index 5 holes per toothy. |

These letters and numbers refer to the position and gear size to use for differential indexing with the BS2 Dividing head. Used to get divisions unobtainable with the use of a single indexing plate as on the BS0. |
