Thread: Drill out a ht c/s allen screw
21/11/2017 17:23:24

Most Allen keys are quite tapered at the end due to the manufacturing process, so in cases such as this I usually grind the end of the key flat and square to maximise the contact area between the key and the walls of the screw socket.

Thread: what are these Tools?
26/08/2017 23:27:52

I also used a fibreglass stick for cleaning commutators and slip rings on exchange ringing machines when working for Post Office Telephones between the early '60s and late '90s. They were eventually discontinued because the dust generated when they were used was deemed to be harmful to health. Needless to say they were retained for as long as possible, one chap used his to clean pole faces and armatures on PO 3000 type relays.

Thread: Need chuck thread cutting Wadkin Bursgreen BZL
29/10/2016 14:13:17

I don't know if this is of any help, but last year I had dealings with Peter Child wood turners' supplies regarding a chuck and thread converters both LH and RH for my Myford ML8 and they were very helpful. Sadly they are no longer trading but their website remains accessible here with info about available headstock threads: www.peterchild.co.uk/chucks/threads.htm
