Thread: Subscription Query
13/03/2016 20:15:49

Hi Jason

If my subscription is to finish later this month, why have I not had my magazine?

Hi Neil,

As I said nothing has changed, I have had no problems for over 5 years. There is no change from my side but your subscription side has changed maybe their systems are different.

Hi

I have had a subscription for both Model Engineer and Model Engineers Workshop for many years. First Model Engineer stops being delivered and now Model Engineers Workshop has now stop. The bank confirms that there is no change to the direct debits, so what"s happening?

Thread: Brazing brass to steel
17/02/2014 23:24:40

Hi All

Success!

Have used Silverflo 55 with Easyflow Flux. It has produced a fine filleted joint very much more professional looking than the original.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. What did we do before the internet? I suppose that is why the pace of change was that much slower.

Many thanks again

Norm

Thank you all for your comments. I am trying to replicate a part I am replacing in the door lock of a 1935 car. The square holed brass bush is brass brazed into a steel lever. The joint on the other side has quite a large fillet to give it some strength, I wasn't sure that silver solder would give fillet or strength. Is there a low temperature brass coloured braising rod, maybe copper based and which flux would be suitable?

Can I have some advice on brazing brass to steel? What type of rod and which flux should I use and any tip on technique?

Am right that I cannot read Model Engineer or Model Engineer's Workshop on my iPad?
Do I also understand that there are no plans to make it possible or does anybody have any ideas on how it may be possible?

Thread: Knurling
02/02/2010 17:00:57

John S, how would it work with a diamond cut? I expect it would be ok with 2 opposing diagonal knurls but not using a preformed diamond set of knurls.

I have just read my posting again. Whoops, sorry about the spelling. Dyslexia or something I’m afraid!  But thank you everyone for your quick and informative responses.

Happy knurling!

Can anybody help me to produce clean diamond knurls?
I am using a doule headed knurling tool with 2 daimond knurling forms.
It seems to me that the dia of the shaft to be knurled has to be a multipule of one diamond pattern. At present I get mangled diamonds and fine slivers of metal. It must be simple?
