you cant reverse jaws in a three jaw chuck because of the scroll curve, you should have an extra set for reverse gripping.

there is also a certain order they are fitted. they should be numbered 1 2 3 and they go in in that order,

look in the end of a jaw slot and you can see the scroll, turn that with the key until the end appears, insert jaw 1, go to the next slot and repeat, this is with the scroll turning anticlockwise looking at the front of the chuck and turning the chuck key clockwise.

I bought a auto defrost freezer in a moment of madness and had trouble from the get go.

It kept icing up and would not defrost.

I had three guys out to look at it, the first two faffed about but didn't fix it,

the third chap took one look at it , said " these auto freezers are useless, I would never buy one, the trouble is the drain pipe hole is too high"

he tipped it backwards, lowered the front feet so it was leaning back a few degrees and it's worked ever since.

with nylon, if you have a shop vac, you could suck the swarf straight up the nozzle.

What I find strange about this is , apart from me and one other, no one else has posted that it doesn't work for them, and, even stranger, apart from Neil, no one has posted that it DOES work.

interesting as usual but one question, what the hell is a WODEN tool and cutter grinder.

the spelling is right in the contents but it's spelt wrongly at least 4 times in the article, including the header.

You may also find that tightening the jaws using different keyholes will give different runouts,

spinning a motor to start it is a good way to lose a finger!

you input all the gears you have ( including doubles), input your leadscrew pitch and the thread you want to cut and it churns out a list of possible gear setups.

I use it all the time because my lathe has a chart on which some of the setups only work in theory.
