Thread: V8 Engine |
11/05/2010 10:24:26 |
Hi I have built a few four stroke engines my last being a Edwards 5 radial. I now want to build a water cooled V8 engine. I have found drawings for two, one is called the Challenger, the other is the Scorpion. The Challenger is a V8 with the one cam shaft between the cylinders, with oil pump and water pump and spark ignition. The Scorpion is a twin overhead cam but glow ignition, and using glow fuel which has oil in it, allowing blow by to lubricate the bottom end and cams.
Has anyone built ether or has experience of them or knows of any other V8's with drawings that I could consider.

Hi I am building a 2" Fowler Showmans, I have tried to buy a three cock water gauge but they are all to big. I have decided to build my own can any one point me in the right direction for drawings or indeed have some that they could share with me. Also whats the thoughts on a parallel cock with "o" rings as apposed to the standard tapered cock.

Thread: Ignition coils for small engines |
10/06/2009 14:21:05 |
John I would highly recommend the Hemingway hall effect and their small coils. I have recently built my first IC engine and played with motor cycle coils and bits, to no avail. Bought the Hemngway kit and the engine started first time and runs well. I have used radio control type plugs so that it can be connected to other engines as they are completed.

Thread: CAD Update |
09/06/2009 10:28:02 |
I now have a CAD program for my Macbook it is Via CAD 2D/3D v6, and so far it is really great. Its very innovative, user friendly , and would not hesitate to recommend it. There is also a version for PC users.
Unlike Turbo Cad by Avanquest, its now been three weeks since I first contacted them for a upgrade to v16 deluxe for a Mac, as I was a registered user for the PC version. Apparently the person who looks after pricing has been on holiday and has been to busy to get back to me! Even though I have been bombarded over the weeks to take up the special price upgrade via e-mail. Now they don,t even answer my e-mails. So my advice to you is to steer clear of them, customer care whats that!

Thread: C A D for Mac |
29/05/2009 09:31:51 |
Hi All,
I have just changed my computer from a PC to a Mac, I used to use Turbo CAD 15 bought a the Bristol ME show last year. I would like to use the same program again and have been in contact with Avanquest the company who supplies it. I have been informed by them that the Mac version bears no resemblance to the PC version and that it has problems. Has anyone got any more info how does it differ what are the problems? There are programs out their ie Bootcamp to enable me to run a PC program on a Mac, but this would then mean adding Norton etc and I do not want to go down that road.
As a final solution can anyone recommend a CAD program that will run on a Mac in the lower price bracket.
