And hanging over the left hand side of the bike was always easier. Watching todays MotoGP riders scraping their elbows on corners certainly shows that tyre technology has advanced in leaps and bounds (no pun intended). Regards Ian. |

Used to "Make" M16 LH thread allen screws from standard M16 on machine breakdowns. Screws/bolts had enough plain shank under the head to achieve this. NEVER used a carbide to do this, plain old HSS and ALWAYS got an excellent surface finish. Regards Ian. |

Never mind the heavy metals, it jangles my knurdles at the price of Basla wood that the blade manufacturers have cornered the market on for the blade cores. Bet Eddie Keil is fuming. Regards Ian |

Yes Andy, hammers and bench press. many years ago watched in horror as a "technician" inserted the outer race into my wheel hub with a hammer. He was standing next to the bench press. Back street garage? No, VW main agent. This was fourty five years ago, when WE did it properly. Regards Ian. |

Yep, we used to work for a living too. Surprising what precision can be achieved with a single chuck key and a lump hammer. Regards Ian. |

Thread: TIG welded copper boilers |
30/09/2021 11:03:18 |
I think the O/P questioned Tig welded COPPER boilers so Hot rolled boiler plate hardly qualifies. Fizzy has given the simple answer as although Ex, at least he was coded and advised that Mickey Mouse welders and welding equipment is a no no. No doubt the O/P will be checking on the qualifications of the supplier? and yes, horror stories abound of some suppliers disasters. A mate ordered a Simplex boiler from a noted supplier in OZ and was surprised to find water coming out as fast as he could put it into it DESPITE the test certificate stating it had been pressure tested to 150psi. Although taking a bit longer and costing a bit more due to overseas postage, the company set up by a young lady in the UK supplied the excellent new one. Regards Ian |
Thread: Suppliers/advertisers |
30/09/2021 10:28:12 |
Problem with having a "Dedicated place" for fast deliveries is the expectation of "Instant gratification" from ALL suppliers on a next day delivery or they receive a low score. Some kick and scream at private health care patients "Jumping the queue" BUT a parallel scenario has been generated by paying extra for a speedy delivery of our bits. I ALWAYS click "Free delivery" box when ordering as my life won't come to an end if whatever doesn't hit the mat smouldering. I ordered a pair of slippers on Tuesday night, free post, which the Ad said Saturday delivery, was informed today they will arrive Friday before 3pm., would have cost an extra £3 -£4 for a runner with cleft stick to deliver Wednesday! I'm a Yorkshireman so go figure. Couple of months ago, I ordered some bits that fitted into a small Jiffy bag on free post from an address about seven miles away from me, took a week to arrive, certainly slowed the job down but my world didn't collapse. Be thank full they arrive, at least one M E advertiser was notorious for his dispatches regularly "Falling out the back of the post van". Regards Ian. |

Thread: What do you think of this con |

Don't understand why the terms "Not available for ALCOHOL ONLY BASKETS" causes confusion to even MANAGERS? Wording should be "Voucher will be honoured at OUR total discretion for reasons we dictate that you don't need to know but our word if final!" And don't be conned by the "Two for" and "Three for" prices, check the price labels on the front of the shelves for "Price per 100g" Recent purchase from "Uncle Kens" local emporium (and equally applies to other giants) would have been three boxes of minced steak for £10 BUT this week was minced BEEF so I thought nexr week will be steak, so wait. Went round display corner and boxes of minced STEAK was £2.59 per box. Similarly, £7.40 box of "Lindors" is cheaper piece part price than Three for £10. I DID go to specksavers, also attended Skool the day they did Maffs. Regards Ian. Edited By Circlip on 28/09/2021 12:24:18 |

Went through a Q & A scenario a few years ago when a mate had managed to wrangle the con rod between boiler feed pump rod and eccentric drive on a Simplex. Hydraulic lock etc. and all points east (and west). Transpired that looking vertically downwards on drive everything in line BUT, horizontally, the pump rod and eccentric centre lines weren't. Worth checking. Regards Ian. |

CO2, no problem. Use extracted atmosphere from houses of parliament. One weeks storage should last months.
Regards Ian. A bit political, that. But from there it is only hot air? The living-dead don’t need to actually breathe? No politics involved at all, it's a big room with all involved and strangely enough, I was led to believe we exhale CO2? One worrying aspect is that the largest producer in this country is American owned together with many more and prospective purchases "over here" Regards Ian. |

£5 for £50 in mine with exactly the same T & C ref., Same first letter as a burger giant? T & Cs printed on back of voucher, pale green 1mm high. How many wrinklies have a binocular microscope to be able to read these? Bet the late Sir Ks ashes are rotating like a tornado.
