Thread: Advice on pricing a Myford Super 7 lathe
26/10/2022 00:50:11

Put the extras out for all to see and sell them with the late. Part of selling is giving a good deal and not screwing every penny from the deal. It would be far more attractive to a potential customer as it represents an instantaneous start. I would be reluctant to buy a bare lathe, but would be willing to pay more for a lathe complete with tooling, for a starter kit as it were. It’s nicer to deal with a generous person than a tight arse. Infact I’ve called off a deals because I wasn’t impressed with the fellow. And I’ve tipped luck money to a good soul as part of the action.
I agree with the general consensus sell all each for the most money and a time consuming hassle fair enough. All together makes a happy customer who has paid a bit more for the start accessories allow. A happy customer is better than cash alone

Thread: Weight and transportability of a Myford lathe
26/10/2022 00:15:45

Take woods with you so you can put it down quickly if you have to. There are some strong folk out there but if that’s not you, be careful move in lots of little short lifts with rest between. Don’t rush about and if it scares you your better leaving it to someone else to move. It’s one of those jobs that the very thought of is too much, but I can assure you ‘O’Level physics is all you need, and if you use a metal bar against the cast of the lathe, protect and pack between with wood. 125 kg is only five 25kg bags of coal. Gravity can be grave protect your toes too. Take it steady no rushing and the job’s a good one. Good luck.

Thread: Can my pillar drill be improved
08/07/2022 04:07:40

Hello, my improved modification for a cheap Chinese drill NUTool. A bench model I’ve made a table for it with a sloping base. Utilised and old header tank, and lowered a £3.50 tiny pump into a solution of cutting fluid. What doesn’t run along my piece runs back to the tank below the table.
Now I can drill 12mm holes all day long through10mm steel, all with the same drill bit. For drilling metal it has totally transformed a cheap as chips Pillardrill.
