05/07/2022 16:58:35

does anyone know how I can wire this switch up to my ml7.

I bought a Myford stand recently and this switch came with it, cfbb71f5-46a3-4382-a270-7f76b21ad3d9.jpegthey did say that it hadn’t been tested and weren’t sure wether it worked or not.

has someone got a similar switch so you can let me know what Goes where.

any help appreciated.

thanks

Thread: Help with dial indicator and stand
04/07/2022 21:15:27

Hi all,

the dial indicator and stand are not compatible.

the dial spigot is 9.5mm and the stand takes an 8mm spigot.

I got this info after contacting Ian at arceurotrade, who are kindly going to send me an 8 m spigot in the post.

they were unaware of this and will have to change their website info.

thanks

I’ve tried it in all the holes all different ways,

they simply don’t fit.

I suppose I could drill the holes larger.

pill have to contact arceurotrade to sort this out.

they should tell you if they are compatible.

thanks all

02/07/2022 18:15:55

Even if I put that thin spigot in the hole that’s no good, it’s still loose and flopping about. That’s not right.

02/07/2022 18:11:33

Thanks Jason, but as I keep saying the digit do not fit in any holes.

No I’ve tried it every way there is to try it and the spigots do not fit thru the holes.

live changed every way of doing it, these two cannot be compatible.

thanks all the same, I will send them back.

Thread: Headstock cover trouble
07/06/2022 17:59:50

Hi all,

the only way I was able to solve this problem was to buy a link belt so that I could shorten it to accommodate the cover not rising up and down.

don’t know why I had this problem in the first place though, still can’t figure it out and I think the belt that came with it was the correct size.

thanks

Thread: Shed floor
06/06/2022 11:53:38

Hi,

thanks for all the reply’s.

I have ordered a steel myford stand with drip tray and ordered two rising blocks.

hopefully this will give me a much more solid base for the lathe.

do you think this would be ok on a shed floor or it still needs to be on concrete.

thanks

Thread: Ml7 paint job

well after a week of buying the lathe and trying to adjust everything I could I finally got it to the side of the shed and gave a bit of a paint up and looks pretty good.

you can see athe bottom of the headstock cover I made a sort of clip to take it away form the pulleys more, as I still couldn’t solve that rubbing problem.

now I just need to have a go at some turning, I’ve got a set of Hss tools coming and some metal bar I ordered, so we will see how it goes.

what with the not too stable chest of drawers it’s on I don’t know how good the cutting will be, but I’ll have a go anyway.

cheers

Thread: Shed floor
04/06/2022 18:29:07

Hi,

well I’ve finally got the ml7 over to one side of the shed.

the only problem is it’s wobbling about quire a bit.

I tried some shims underneath the chest of drawers, but still no good.

I mean to get a proper Myford stand for it sometime, including the drip tray and riser blocks. But even if I get these I suppose it will still wobble because of the wooden floor.

any suggestions.

thanks

Thread: Headstock problem
03/06/2022 14:10:20

Hi,

thanks for the pics.

no I still can’t figure it out, I’ve looked at your pics and altered a a few things you show and still the same.

it was ok before I started sodding about with it.

obviously Ive done something and can’t rectify it.

I give in, maybe I should of bought a new lathe after all, this one doing my head in.

thanks

Thread: Back gear and tumbler reverse
02/06/2022 09:57:59

28366c3c-86b7-4807-8b3e-0c50be012c4d.jpegHi again,

the back gear and tumbler reverse selectees I’m a little confused with.

what exactly do they do and what position would I have them in for general turning.

it says the tumbler is either in forward neutral or reverse, which holes are which.

also would I only select back gear if I was screw cutting.

thanks

Thread: Ml7 clutch trouble
01/06/2022 17:40:41

Hi,

looks like I solved it hopefully, I tightened the two nut up nice and tight that you see in the picture on the clutch arm and now the chuck stops how it should.

so fingers crossed all is good so far.
