Thread: Mini Lathe Ways Lapping |
03/07/2023 10:52:13 |
Thanks for the comments, in order to improve the rigidity of my mini lathe I'm trying to eliminate any play while still having free movement, based on your feedback I have slackened off the bolts holding the plates a tad, there is a small amount of play on the carriage now but the carriage moves freely across the ways. |

Stripped the carriage of my VM210 mini lathe, re-assembled and shimmed the plates holding the carriage onto the ways. The carriage hits a high spot in the center of the ways, would lapping the ways with grinding paste be an option to level the ways to the carriage and is there a specific technique involved? Many thanks for your advise. Russell |
Thread: Bench Grinder Bush |
06/06/2023 07:44:02 |
The bush is 70mm diameter and appears to be a plated casting, based on the advise received I will make a identical bush out of aluminium (easier to machine on my mini lathe) and proceed with caution for the first run, many thanks for the advise. |

1. Can the part be made out of aluminiun or brass 2. Do I need to replace the part on the other side in order to balance the grinder 3. How tight should the nuts be holding the wheels on the grinder shaft. Your advise would be appreciated. |
Thread: Multifix Tool System |
16/02/2022 07:09:43 |
I have recently bought a VM210 mini lathe, 210 mm swing. Looking to buy a QCTP would the multifix system be a better option than a wedge type? |
