Welcome Russell. What are your interests? Loads of people on here with a vast range of experience between them and always happy to help in any way, all the best. Mike Hello Mike, thanks for commenting, I'm interested in a varied range of things, I machine 316ss, grade 5 titanium, delrin, acrylics, juma (composite resin) g10, mikarta, Damascus steel, damasteel.
I also have an interest in upgrading my tools by machining parts myself, the mill didn't come with a draw bar, so I have made a couple, and also the the adapter for M10 threaded mt2 taper tooling 😁

Hello Russell and welcome. Nice to hear that you are getting your workshop in order. What sort of things are you interested in making? Brian Hi Brain thank you. I make all sorts really, have made a few components for a colleague that is building a Westfield kit car... Suspension bushings, seat risers and a couple of other parts. I also make some small semi precision components for a small UK company, that involves a custom 0.5mm single point thread. I have other interests in the vaping industry and machine custom drip tips, buttons etc 🙂 |

Hi all, my name is Russell, as per the title I am on the isle of wight. I have been a hobby machinist for a few years, starting out with mostly small machines (proxxon) then moved up to slightly larger import machines.
I now have an 8x16 import lathe, for which I made my own qctp 🙂
I also now have an emco mentor mill, which I bought off eBay, and after a minor restoration, have it up and running nicely, a much greater improvement over the import mill I was using 😁 |

1 sold 14 jan for £735, looked tatty and well used and from description had a motor problem. To see it search for Mentor mill but check the Sold box on the left side menu. Emgee Hi this is my first post here, I actually bought that emco mill, the ways were in good shape with very little signs of wear, I stripped the entire machine apart to inspect and clean everything, replaced all the oil ports, replaced the switch and wiring and it works as good as new now (much better than my old Clarke mill)
Tho I do wonder if anyone knows where I can get a quill return spring from for this machine? Tia. Russell
