BTW, I loved the photo's of your 'epic journey' - reminded me when I had to collect & bring home mine when I bought it.

I took it apart - even then it was VERY heavyi The guy who sold it to me was a body-builder, so no problems getting it in the Jeep, then I got home, and my wife didn't seem so keen ...

*UPDATE*

Hi Steve,

Gwilym been brilliant! He's posted the necessary info. in response to another thread I also posted on.

You guys are great, none of the 'we're the establishment - who are you talking to' you get on other forums.

Thanks again, Zeek.

Gwilym - Brilliant!

That's just what I needed. As you say, luckily (unlike the rest of the machine) it's not a precision part thank goodness.

I'm also relieved that it's only 1/8" steel - didn't fancy cutting that profile from 1/4"!

Thanks again, Zeek.

Hi Steve,

Thanks & no hurry - it's been sitting in the garage for five years! PLEASE don't strip it down - I just need a rough doulble-check for my estimation using the bits I still have.

All-the-Best, Zeek.

Thanks Michael,

Newbie error! 'Thought they were JPEGs - they were GIFs ... Let's try again;

downhamstrap1.jpg

downhamstrap2.jpg

downhamstrap3.jpg

(my thanks to lathes.co.uk).

To reiterate, my problem is a missing support strap (not sure what it's called but I've marked it in photo 2 with a red blob).

What I could do with is a scale drawing (or tracing from the part) to get the dimensions, so that I could make up a new one from a bit of scrap plate.

Thanks again, Zeek.

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this thread is still 'live' but I'm rebuilding a Downham Mini-Jig Borer!

My problem is a missing support strap (not sure what it's called but I've marked it in photo 2 with a red blob).

What I could do with is a scale drawing (or tracing from the part) so that I could make up a new one from a bit of scrap plate.

I've also posted this question on another thread (hope that's not breaking the rules!) to reach as many people as possible.

Thanks

Zeek
