Thread: Piston Valve Bobbins

I'm currently working on the cross head water pump for my 3.5" County Carlow and thinking about increasing the diameter of the pump ram from 5/32 to 3/16 thinking I can bypass any excess delivery. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. Many thanks Pete

Thanks for your swift response this is just what I need, I'll check my dimensions tomorrow although I don't think I'm far out given it was a guestimate.

Much appreciated Pete

I have a problem with the eccentrics hitting the underside of the ash grate when running. My drawings didn't include dimensions for ash grate so I made a tapered one based on the Tich design. Can anyone assist with basic dimensions please.

Thanks Pete

I'm building a 3.5 inch County Carlow and currently working on the cylinder blocks and from the drawings it looks as if the valve bobbins should float on the valve rods rather than being tightened up on the spindle. This is my first build with piston valves so would appreciate some advice please.

Thanks Pete
