apologies for such a slow reply, yes my db10 long bed is in position with some use.

considering my slow reply have you bought a lathe yet? Which did you choose?

Just took deliver6 of my DB10 long bed lathe, a little unexpected as it arrived earlier than expected so it’s just sitting on the garage floor until I finish my night shifts 👍🏻

Hopefully put a photo up soon as I’m sorted

After long deliberation I Just bought the DB10 longbed version, thanks everyone for you help and input.

Hi Ian thanks for the info, I appreciate for the price it is not going to be without it’s possible pitfalls, looking at other chinese makes they are all going to be very much the same, and same risks. I can’t justify buying a british one as price easily doubles and that’s for a used one.

im looking to do build small models and small parts for my motorbike, along with things I don’t know yet.

suppose I’m looking to do metric threads upto 16mm but that’s just a guess.

After a visit to Chester hobby today who were very helpful. I’m pretty sure I’m going for the DB10. 👍🏻

Sometimes it’s to easy to over think these sort of things!

Both Chester and warco will do most jobs and Both are reasonably available.

My main concern is the small motor on the db10, As Brian G mentioned.

As for the tool post warco do a ready machined quick change post to fit wm250v and I’m guessing it may fit the db10?

think I have narrowed my choice to

Chester db10 approx £1600 has smaller brushed motor but has powered cross feed comes with a stand I don’t need.

warco wm250 approx £1600 has a brushless ac motor I think, but no powered cross feed, 50mm longer than db10

warco wm250v approx £2000. Which is more than I wanted to pay but appreciate the better ac motor and vfd, not sure it justifies the 3xtra £400. But has power cross feed

Was trying to see blondihacks lathe in videos, it was a pm1022v I think, looks more like the warco

Hi everyone, I’m new to the group and looking to buy my first lathe, I seem to be leaning towards the Chester DB10 super lathe for price, size and local to me. People have kindly given me their thoughts on things to consider when choosing a lathe.

But was wondering if anyone on here use a Chester DB10 Super lathe? If so what’s your thoughts?

Thanks everyone, I know it’s a lot of personal choice and experiences, If warco was local I think I would go for one of those, but price is creeping up. There is a big jump cost wise fr9m the DB8 to db10 then to warco 250v. .

I am currently renovating an old motorbike which has been converted to a chopper. So I am hoping to make some items for that, also like to build some small working models. So guess I am after an all rounder, yes think metric is the way to go for me but like to have the option of imperial threading if needed.

chester db10 super lathe is the biggest I can really go for size and cost, and they do interest free credit, warco seem a bit dearer all round.

Yeh I do agree the adverts on sites can be selective with the truth and details can be wrong, it’s an expensive purchase so will spend some time searching the forums.

i think I’m going for the metric db10 super lathe by Chester,

looking to buy my first lathe, after some deliberation I have ruled out the older myfords etc basically due to the fact I haven’t the knowledge to know if I am buying a good en or something worn out. So thought I’d go with a modern lathe from Chester or warco.

im leaning towards Chester as it is local to me where as warco is a good 4 hours away, and thinking if I have a problem at least I can visit Chester. Anyone else agree or is warco a better choice?

i am looking at the Chester DB10 super lathe for size and cost, which from what I can see is a good all rounder.BUT doesn’t do imperial threads? But not sure how often imperial threads would be needed? Any thoughts anyone.

warco equivalent say they do both metric and imperial, but no power cross feed and have newer larger brushless motors. Considering they are the same machine the Chester DB10 seems to be lacking compared to the warco.

any thoughts greatly appreciated
