Thread: Another myford motor question
02/11/2020 21:15:32

Hi all,

I have a 50 year old ML7 which appears to have the original single phase 1/3hp Crompton Parkinson motor.

The motor runs in both directions however it had a bit of a knock. Closer inspection shows an amount of end float in the shaft and play In the bearings.

I have read all the recommendations on upgrading etc but don't currently have the funds.

My question is, has anybody replaced the bearings in one of these motors, was it successful, are they standard sizes or oddball.

Thanks for any help

Hi Dave

The needle roller thrust bearing upgrade, is that for the headstock?

Can you share a link, sounds like something I'd be interested in. Thanks

Mark

Thread: Hello
22/09/2020 13:55:28

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello, I am a recent convert to model making having bought a Myford ML7 last year.

I served an apprenticeship in a machine shop many years ago (all conventional machines) and am enjoying rediscovering forgotten skills.

To date I have completed a couple of Elmers engines which I run on compressed air and I am currently about half way through building the No41 factory engine.

Really enjoy the forum, great source of info.

Thanks in advance for any help
