Thread: ArcEurotrade machine deliveries to Switzerland |
08/06/2020 11:31:02 |
Dear all, I have been doing what seems like endless research into which mill to buy, after much effort and agonising I finally decided to buy a Sieg SX 2.7 from Arc, I logged onto their website to see how much the shipping costs to Switzerland would be, I received the message that there was no shipping method available and that I should contact Arc, this duly done I received a return email stating that Arc would not ship machinery to Switzerland, they would however deliver other parts. I was rather taken back by this and am still at a loss to understand why! So after much discussions with the Chancellor of the Exchequer (AKA her indoors) I have decided to order a WABECO F1200, maybe in a different league ( hopefully not only the price !) but with recent events it brings to mind the fact that life is too short so what the heck, Best wishes to all, Mark |
Thread: Basic oscillating Engine |

Dear all, As a new member I was asked to show an image of my first project so here it is! It is the simple oscillating engine from Steve's workshop, thanks Steve! Due to errors (not paying attention) on my part I ended up with two holes at the top of the frame as I bored the main bearing hole at the wrong end, so measure twice cut once! I "hid" my error with two brass screws. This also meant that the air intake had to be drilled from the back of the frame, miraculously the engine ran first time! The whole project was fun and rewarding but definitely showed up weaknesses in both my equipment and me personally! It was my first venture into model making and I made all the parts excepting the screws, air valve and spring, so all in all a positive and fun project. Best wishes to all, Mark in Switzerland, Edited By JasonB on 08/06/2020 11:58:01 |

Thanks all for the welcome! BTW I live near to Lausanne in Switzerland so only about 2-3 hours from Zurich. Greetings to Danny in Oz! I guess model engineering unites a whole bunch of people With regards to Sieg equipment it seems strange that the very first few projects are all aimed at making the lathe work well, glad we do not have to do the same with our cars! Lathe seems to work OK once the bugs are adjusted out, let us see for the mill. Still must turn out the lights soon, too much time spent in the workshop, according to my long suffering wife

Hello all, My name is Mark and I live in Switzerland, fairly recently retired and getting into metalwork etc. I have a Sieg Sc3 purchased from Paulimot in Germany, they seem to be a good company to buy from, my milling is taken care of by a Proxxon BFB 40/e although I am on the lookout for something a bit bigger, a SX2 from ARC is currently the favorite, hopefully they will get some in stock soon! I also have a pillar drill from Proxxon and several woodworking tools. Projects for the future will include a first timer oscillating engine, just ot get started then who knows! I am sure that I will have lots of questions so thanks in advance, stay healthy, best wishes, Mark |
