Job now done, I used a bit of everybodies ideas starting with the round file and then where it was quite bad I used the HSS single point tool. Leadscrew and halfnut now working smoothly. Thanks to all who replied, great site for information and ideas.

thanks, another good idea. Ive ordered a acme thread gauge so as to grind the tool accurately. Will let you know how i get on. |

Hi I was wondering if anbody on here could cut me a 0.750" x 8 tpi leadscrew nut in tool steel. (I can supply the steel) I want to use it to clean up the threads on myford 254 imp. leadscrew. Hi can anybody provide me with some information or point me in the right direction to find some info re this vice. it has multi layer of swivelling jaws that will conform to irregular shapes. Unfortunately the name has rubbed out. thanks |
