Thread: Looking for recomendations.
19/10/2020 13:01:16

Good Afternoon John.

thanks for the reply. I'll try to answer as best as i can; but as mentioned i'm getting near the limits of my electrical knowledge. the lathe has a SIEG-FC150BJSMD board in it; and that's new.

The Motor, was tested on a friends DC power supply, it span up and the brushes are good (not new but they still have life in them) we tested the other motor on the Mill as well and that was good as well.

regarding your questions about the other switches; they havent been tested but i'm not really sure how to to be honest, which is why i was thinking its about time to send it out to someone who knows what theyre doing,

Thanks

David

Afternoon all.

Hope everyone is well. (especially in these weird times) I'm not sure of its just me but now more than ever i'm so tempted to retreat into the shed and stay there untill Covid buggers off.

one problem however.

i have a clarke CL250m and the overload light is on. its had a new circuit board and the motor is fine. i think ive bench tested all of he switches and wires in there for continuity etc, but it still wont run. I'm at the limit of my technical knowledge WRT this. I'm based just outside of manchester at the moment; and wondered if anyone knows of any repair shops out there who could look at this for me? ive tried googling "tool repairs" etc but not had much look.

\i'd be greatfull for any recomendations that any of you fine people have.

Thanks in advance

David

Thread: Clarke CL250m Overload light coming on
01/09/2019 12:05:48

Hi all.

I'm Hoping for a liitle bit of advice. I have a Clarke CL250M metalworker Lathe/Mill combo which has just stopped working.

The overload light is on and i have followed the advice on some of the older threads on this subject but to no avail and was wondering if someone has more up to date information (the newest thread i could find was 2013)

I have checked the motor, it works under direct power, brushes have plenty of life left and turns freely. (no crunch noises) the board has a couple of definately blown capacitors, and a few suspect. I have swapped them all out just to be sure.

there was a point on the board itself that looked a little bit suspect to me. the tracks where one of the terminals for the Voltage regulator attached to the heat sync looked like they has been repaired with a Nickle Pen. now the board has worked in this cindition; so i'm not sure if this is the issue.

i'm happy enough de-soldering componants but looking at some of the bits on that board i think creating a new one is beyond me.

Clarke are being a bit non-commital as to the availability of a new board; bit I Gather that i can wire in somethng like this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0-220V-50HZ-DC-AC-220V-500W-Knob-Motor-Speed-Controller-Lathe-Control-Adjustable/202757928381?hash=item2f355075bd:g:2rcAAOSwaJBdVktB

But i'm usure as to how that would effect the Mill attachment as well?

I'd appreciate any help and advice from people out there who have overcome this problem.

(photo of the board attached so you know which one i'm talking about.

Thankyou in advance

David
