Thread: Parting Off
29/08/2019 14:52:53

Hello George,

You posted a reply to my video post, "Boiled engine fittings...? What gas mark?"

I have no idea "What gas mark?" means.

I make boiler fittings. My post had a spelling error. I would think that was obvious to all. Appears not to you.

I had some difficulty with my post. I made duplicate postings and had the spelling error. I tried to correct both but could not.

I had hoped readers would be interested in my video than my mistakes. Apparently you were only interested in criticizing me.

The Model Engineer forum is not for me. You can't correct mistakes and it appears you can't quit the forum either. Not really a friendly place.

And then you have to put up with a smart-ass!

img_2973.jpgtubes and endplates.jpgceramic burner.jpgI made the Cheddar Models "Puffin" kit.

The duplex pump was machined from Coles Power Models bronze castings.

Boiler is also used to steam a Stuart compound launch. I will provide a video soon.

Thread: Hello From North Carolina
14/04/2019 14:55:35

Hello David,

I made the Stuart No. 9 engine.

The video starts with two photos showing the set up to for boring the bedplate on the FB-2 mill. The third photo is boring the cylinder on Maximat 7 using the Arrand between centres boring bar. Then I have a photo of the finished bedplate and cylinder.

The finished engine is shown running on compressed air.

I have a Maximat 7, Emco FB-2 milling and drilling combination machine, and a Cowells lathe. The Maximat and FB-2 were purchased new, still run good after many years of use. The Cowells is 20 years old.

I made several Stuart stationary engines, a duplex pump and a boiler. Worked on two 3 1/2 grade locomotives.

Currently retired. Now into garden trains.

I previously subscribed to Model Engineer for many years.
