Thread: Elliott Jig Borer spare parts

Hi Martin,

Belt designations are heavilly standardised based on profile and inner length. Having the width and height of the belt is a start.

https://shop.eriks.co.uk/en lists Fenner belts and being based in the UK would be able to help with questions on a suitable replacement.

Otherwise most places that sell V belts would be able to decipher the markings and advise the best alternative especially if you are able to show them the original.

These are the measurments from my bracket. The machine is imperial and the tolerances are reasonably wide for this bracket. Let me know if I missed something.

Hi Zeek,

This is my support strap. I'll get it measured up for you and post the details.

Steve,

Thanks for all the effort in documenting the handle. I'll study in detail this weekend.

My machine is in pieces and slowly coming back. Just bought a 10 ton press so I can change a bearing, so that will be a task for the weekend.

I'll mock up a part in wood to get a feel on how I'll be able to machine this.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

That's the handle assembly. I have some measurements taken from photos but it you can take them from the actual casting it would be great.

If you could provide some dimensions for the adjuster rod as well as mine is missing as well.

Thanks

Gwilym

Hi Steve, thanks for the offer. A picture would be very helpful especially to compare to the Lathes.com photos.

My assumption was that the main feed assembly was cast iron and the actual handle was satin chrome steel with a black plastic ball.

I've used the photos to determine approximate sizes and shapes and will make a wooden template. Once I'm happy with the shape and functionality I have a chuck of cast iron to machine.

Cheers

Thanks, fabrication was going to be my fallback position. I was aiming for all original parts but having been through a lot of photos, a small block of cast iron and some rod should allow me to produce something very close to the original.

I've stripped the rest of the machine for painting and have dismantled and cleaned head and gear box. Time to put it back together again.

I'm currently restoring an Elliott Jig Borer MK1 which is missing the automatic feed lever and stop mechanism. Would anyone know of one being broken down or a source of spares?

I've just acquired an Elliott MK1 Jig borer and I need to identify the correct motor frame and foot mount. Would anyone have the correct specification?. The MK2 has a D80 frame but the mounting plate is different to the MK1.

The photo of the Hoover 3 phase is useful but I can't see the model details clearly. Looking at both the NEMA and IEC specs I can't find an exact match to the mounting plate. I'm wondering if the motor mount was something specific to the UK.
