Evening Ladies and Gents, Long time lurker here, nice to meet you all! I scored a rotaform spin fixture (like a harig grind-all) on fleabay. It has a collet fitting with a very short collet that i cant ID: Ive not seen one of this form factor before, and a search of the net didnt dig much up. I was wondering if someone more knowledgeable might have some ideas? Its imperial, having a 7/8" 'pilot' diameter at the rear, major diameter on conical of 1.085"(??) and an OAL of just 1 5/8". Broadly its like a din6343 dead length type, but different dims onviously, and its missing the stepped diameter on the front face, its just flat. Any thoughts or pointers very gratefully received!! As an aside the fixture is nicely made, but a bit old, so im giving it a strip and rebuild. Let me know if anyone is interested in some pics and build/strip notes, and i'll post. Theres not much data on the web on them, so if anyones got one, memories of using one, or maybe a copy of a manual that would amazing; I love the old quality stuff and its history... Anyway thanks in advance!

I just found the receipt for my paint and it turns out it's by Hmg also! My experience is consistent with Benjamin's I think, looks nice but more fragile than I'd like. Maybe I'll try the tractor next time. Thanks for the help all. |

Thanks for the tip Chris, I'll look into that. Has anyone else got good/bad experience of enamel brands? Thanks again |

Hi, sorry to restart an old thread, but does anyone have any comments on either the primer or enamel. I bought some 'machinery' enamel from a local supply, but it seems to chip very easily despite careful prep. Is paragon hard-wearing?? Cheers |

Hello all. I'm a mechanical engineer that's tied to a desk during the day and so I'm wanting to get my hands dirty. Currently I'm just building up the workshop contents; rebuilding a Raglan Little john lathe (anyone know a source of gears - two missing teeth...) and trying to amass some basic machining and inspection kit. Interested in getting a universal mill. E.g Alexander/deckel fp1 etc, so if anyone's thinking of selling, please get in touch![]() |
