Thanks for your responses - the model exhibition looks like a good source of information - even just for browsing at this stage - and the Bristol Model Club also looks like an excellent place to start, so I can work out what to build.

Thanks Chris, that's a really good suggestion. I'll start looking for shows to visit! Of course, the budget isn't entirely under my control, but that's another matter entirely!

Hello,

I'm new to model engineering, apart from metalwork at school many years ago (although I'm pretty sure I still have the screwdriver that I made then!). I'm taking this up as a hobby but haven't bought any equipment yet, as I thought I'd attempt to learn some skills first! I work in Bristol so any courses will have to be in the evenings. If anyone has any recommendations for training events I'd be grateful.
