Thread: Advice on buying a milling machine |

Hi Paul,
You said Warco might suit but were too much for your budget.
They have an open day twice a year, dates on their website. They always have some used machines, that they have taken in part exchange usually. I bought my Lathe and Mill at one event. Both were well used but had plenty of life left in them, especially as I am a light user.
They were a good bit cheaper than buying a brand new machine. There is a short, limited warranty, but I have not needed anything.

Excellent summary Paul. Exactly how I felt. I don't think I will go again. 2 1/2 hrs each way for me. Cheers Tim |

Hi, I have just finishing building my workshop on the side of the house. DIY and aeromodeling are my main hobbies. I have a Taig lathe which has been great for small things but now I "need" more and bigger tools. So I have started looking at lathes in the 7" to 10" max swing size, around 15" long. This has been fun and I am in no hurry. Newer Chinese or older British would be fine. I am also looking for a Mill, something like a Warco WM 16 would be fine. I am sure I will be back with questions but right now I am just reading and learning the landscape. Cheers Tim
