Thread: Carbide tips
06/07/2016 11:49:48

Hi,>>

I am very much a beginner and I need some help please. I bought some carbide tips tools a few months ago and I would like to buy some spare tips.>>

The size of the shank of my index tools is 7.5 mm square and the tips are triangular. The tips measure 8.58 mm from the base of the triangle to the tip. >>

I was told by an Ebay seller that I needed tips reference number TCMT 09 02 08. When they arrived the tips measure 7.49 mm not 8.58>>

Could somebody please tell me what the correct reference is for tips that measure 8.58 mm please?>>

Thanks>>

Thread: Myford Tri-leva
05/11/2015 12:55:49

I am very much a newcomer to the working of lathes. I have a Myford Tri-leva which has recently started making a clunking noise from the belts in the high and middle speed setting. The slow speed setting is not noisy. Is the noise being caused by the belts being worn? I have looked on the internet to find Tri-leva belts and all the suppliers I have found only offer one belt. Are all three tri-leva belts the same?

Finally how do you adjust the positioning of the belts to ensure a straight run between the two sets of pulleys?

Thanks

Graham

Thread: Eliminating backlash
07/03/2015 11:33:26

I have just acquired a Myford ML7 Trileva and am very much a lathe novice.

It has what I believe is called backlash when turning the cross slide handle, ie there is some slack when turning the handle clockwise and then turning it anti clockwise.

Can someone please tell me how I go about removing the backlash please?

Thanks

Graham

Thread: Myford late model gearbox
19/02/2015 11:59:04

I have just bought an ML7 (1972) with a gearbox. From the seriel number the gearbox was fitted from new.

I am very much a beginner with lathes.

With the Tumbler in positions 1 and 3 and the gearbox lever in the central position, the leadscrew will rotate backwards and forwards. If I move the gearbox lever to one of the other two positions the leadscrew does not rotate.

I want to try and learn how to cut threads using the gearbox. How do I get the leadscrew to rotate when using the gearbox?

Thanks

Graham
