It's definitely not part of the Stuart engine I can not see why you would have it connected to the exhaust steam pipe also if you look at the rest of the plant it's not age related. But what do I know |

or this: Actually the link Vic gives explains it all very well, except that UNF/UNC screws are 60-degree (like metric) not 66. If working on 1980s Fords don't be surprised if you need three different spanners to remove one part such as a thermostat housing. I honestly think some Ford cars of that era had American, Imperial and Metric sizes all mixed together... Neil I thought all you needed on a Ford was a Birmingham spanner and a chisel. Neil

There is more room than having tooling in ,besides if I'am not going to use the tailstock I get the heavy lifting gear in and take it of. |

Leaving politics aside, why would you want to cover the tailstock barrel? Ian P
Ian to stop crap getting in the lathe only a 14in bed so not a lot of room to leave tooling in there. |

I think you need to go speck savers Phil it's a lump of cast with quick release, the rest of the lathe is made from some sort of monkey metal. |

but none of you put in link And it seems to be in Hinkley which is somewhere north of Watford so I probably need a visa and some injections before visisting. You would not get past boarder control until you can spell Hinckley correctly |

Think hard that extra inch makes a big difference one more thing with the lathe make sure it's the 14 inch bed there are a lot of 12 inch about which look like a bargain, if you are going for a mini mill also make sure it is belt drive not gears(people have had a lot of trouble with the gear driven mill very noisy gears tend to brake)all so go for the R8 spindle there is always good second hand tooling at good prices on the net. I am not trying to steer you in any way but also have a look at ArkEuroTrade in Leicester sometimes have some good deals on hope this is help full. |

Make sure you are getting a lathe with a 4 inch chuck not all do |
