Thread: G H Thomas VDH and upgrade etc
16/02/2021 16:08:47

I am just about to set up to drill the 3 division plates on the Alum face plate GHT shows in the book and is in fact a Hemingway item. The fixing method shows the plate cusioned with a wooden pad, and retained onto the faceplate with a stud and nut arrangement. I blindly went ahead and machined the parts to the drawing but did not notice there was no way to secure the plates to the faceplate using the parts shown, I guess I can use a couple of toolmakers clamps but it seems such a glaring error that I must be missing something. Has anyone had this problem?.

. I have a super 7 with std gears( no gear box ) and wanted to reduce the feed rate from the lowest on the chart ( .0043 ) to something a lot lower. There is an option for a 12 tooth cluster( optional extra on new machine ) but my efforts to locate one have been fruitless. My question therefore is what additional gears obtainable for eg off ebay, RDG etc ( 80,75,90,etc ) from those available to me now will give me a reduced feed rate. And having got them-will they fit in the banjo ?
