Thread: Steam Engine + Steam Hammer + Toy Caps = FUN |

Many years ago... I pushed a drawing pin into my skool desk lid and another one into the desk body. A cap was trapped in between the two pin heads. With both elbows on the desk, cupping the chin as if paying great attention, I would give a surreptitious thump with one elbow to make a nice bang. Accompanied by an innocent expression, and looking around to see who had done it generally made it a mysterious event...
Very clever |

Amazing everyone still has two eyes and ten fingers (hopefully) with the things we did and got away with unscathed.

Thanks all and no I didn't think about a LED bulb. The incandescent lamp certainly puts a load on the engine. |

Model Steam Engine with Transmission Running a Water PumpA Jensen Model 20G Steam Engine with a DIY speed reducing Transmission Running a modified Academy Beam Water Pump. The transmission I made is a real bonus for running accessories off a model or toy steam engine. Makes accessories much more realistic being able to turn over slowly. Thanks for watching, Jim |

Blue Heeler , Like others before me , I also like your work . I wonder if you may now be interested in obtaining information on the trip hammers at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet in Sheffield, and also at Wortley Top Forge near Sheffield , with a view to producing working models ? Trevor. G'day Trevor , not sure about my skill level but I would be interested in seeing these trip hammers. Do you have a link or some photos? Cheers, |
Thread: Jensen #5 Steam Engine is under load running a Baker Fan |

This Jensen #5 Steam Engine is under load running a Baker Fan and it makes it create a really nice working chuff sound with the engine doing some work. This was an electrically heated boiler that I converted over to be fired off a gas flame - |

It does make your eyes go funny with the 2 hammers lol, looks good though. Hi Rob I saw that too, I think it was seeing the rear hammer behind the front hammer and then the shutter speed (60fps) playing some optical illusion trick? Edited By Blue Heeler on 25/05/2021 01:34:23 |

Hi, it's good to see an engine actually doing some work rather than spinning around on it's own in fresh air. Yes a very good demonstration. Regards Nick. Thanks Nick, appreciated.

Thread: 45% Silver Solder for Jewelry? |
14/05/2021 08:27:05 |
Posted by JasonB on 14/05/2021 08:25:03:
about 30% copper and 24% zinc with a few traces of others. Thanks Jason, do you think its ok to use in skin contact? |
14/05/2021 08:17:24 |
Can anyone tell me if 45% silver solder is 'safe' for a copper bracelet jewelry repair that will be worn against skin? Of course common lead solder would be bad, but what makes up the other 55% of a 45% silver brazing stick? |
