My point is that one day, thousands of years ago, somebody had the creative thought to devise and make the very first bow and arrow.

Whomever and wherever that was, I take my hat off to that person as they changed the history of the world for thousands of years until the Chinese invention of gunpowder influenced modern weaponry.

My uncle in law served in Gallipoli aged 15 and my father flew Wellingtons in WWII with a Polish RAF Squadron.

30 years ago I was working in a defence establishment.

One of the office PC's had a dodgy 3.5" floppy drive, so a replacement was requested.

Young bloke (contract repair company) arrived and replaced the floppy drive but it did not work. The green light was on continuously.

Out of curiosity I asked the young bloke how much per hour was this repair costing the Defence Department and he replied $120. Then I asked him his hourly rate, it was $12 (Au).

So then I told him that the data connector ribbon cable was plugged in upside down, hence the green light.

He left with a red face after rectifying the problem, but I actually think that I taught him something about floppy disk drives.

Nowadays. 30 years later, $120 p/h is still a decent wage if you can get it.

Look in my album (C3 Minilathe) for a few ideas. I was a beginner when I built most of these items.

The tailstock die holder is easy to make but comes in very handy.

(You did not state what kind of lathe you have. Such information is handy to know as some tips specific to your lathe might be offered by forum members whom happen to to own the same model).

A simple test. Fit a centre in the headstock taper and the tailstock taper and bring them together trapping a razor blade between the points.

My C3 mini-lathe actually passed this test quite nicely.

A ferrite ring with the power line looped through and around it a few times is useful to surpress high frequency spikes.

Nothing wrong with a Badger airbrush. Biggest problem was finding an adaptor to fit my compressor.

Next PITA is cleaning the airbrush,, especially if used to spray 2K epoxy so have plenty of solvent on hand (Gun wash)

I just use a rubber wedge under the door. Open door, kick the wedge in place.

Just don't use 5G as apparently it spreads the virus (acciording to some nutters)

WD40 is useless for storage, as it's name implies, it's used for water displacement. When it dries out it just leaves a sticky residue.

This is the sort of oil that does work well, I use it in my model engines for a long term layup Air Tool Oil

I was once reported to the headmaster of Parminter's Grammar School (Bethnal Green) for failing to wear my school cap on a 253 bus to Hackney. We had a lecture at school assembly about wearing our caps in public.
