I have a bridgeport 2j, I need a dial indicator, mounting parts and some T-slots to fix my vise on to the table, would anyone recommend a good place to buy these? other than ebay. Thanks

Thanks for all your suggestions. Much appreciated, think ill paint the machine any type of paint? Also what oil to use, and should I just manually oil the lead screws and the ways, and any other parts? Ha ha and one other thing, any tips on removing coolant from the sump?

Just took delivery of a Bridgeport milling machine, I wondering what is the best way of cleaning it? Plus any thing that you think that would be useful for me to know. Also does the machine not need or have a one shot lube system? And how do I get the old coolent from the sump?

thanks for the advise, I've been offered this machine for a crazy price (600), the guy has had it from new and only has machined aluminium. So I'm prepared to take the chance that something will go wrong, for that kind of money.

I was looking to see if a phase 3 inverter would work to power his milling machine? I understand that to do this, wiring must be in delta?

Hello I'm looking to buy a lathe and a mill, I have posted on this forum to ask what would be best for the job.

The Lathe :-

basically I'm looking to cut 2, 1 mm notchs in a 1 inch long 8mm diameter iron round bar then put a m4 thread inside it. I also need to lathe 14mm long 6mm diameter brass.

The mill :-

I would like the mill out mild steel or iron dimensions LWH 70mm x 70mm x 17mm

Hope this helps I'm a total beginner to this, looking for someone to advise on what mill and lathe to buy or what combo to buy, I've got a £1000 to spend. really just looking for something that will do the job. also my workshop is in my spare room on the second floor, so i need to be able to get it upstairs.
