Because of the offset of the gearbox input shaft pulley to clear the spindle, I had to make a new motor pulley to fit the new motor shaft in order to retain the correct alignment of the belt. The original pulley was for a spindle of 16mm diameter, whereas the new motor has a shaft with 19mm diameter. And yes, I did try to bore out the old pulley, but the casting was difficullt to centre accurately on the mill and ended up beng a bit eccentric (remember I had no working lathe at this time) which introduced a decidedly unacceptable wobble to the drivetrain. Now it all works very smoothly. Had some trials and tribulations with the VFD wiring but with help and a smidgen of clear thinking, got it sorted out in the end.
