Machined from solid aluminium round bar. Long through studs secure the barrel and head, typical two stroke motorcycle engine practice. The mounting position for the carb can be seen on the crank bearing housing. The hardened crank main shaft is supported by a long bronze bush pressed into the crankcase, it can just be seen sticking out the end. this bush also forms an airtight seal to maintain crankcase pressure.
