The cast iron liner has a wide top lip and was honed to give the correct cross hatch pattern. The cylinder block is heated up and is a light shrink fit onto the iron liner. This ensures a secure fit with a good heat path to the cooling fins. One of the bridged transfer ports can be seen, the bridge prevents the bronze gudgeon pin plugs from popping out into the port.
