Hardinge Reversing Gears

Hardinge reversing mechanism, for study. Spindle and idler gears are self evident. Gears on back shaft are in unit with shaft. Gears on front shaft are free to rotate on ball bearings. Between gears on front shaft is a sliding clutch with a single dog on each face to match with same on loose gears. Output gear fixed to same shaft as sliding clutch. Forward gear, spindle, idler, right front, thru dog to output. Reverse gear, spindle, idler, right gear back shaft , left gear back shaft, left gear front shaft, thru dog to output. Output feeds quick change gearbox.
