Lever & Roller

This is a very neat but simple mechanism where the fork of the lever passes each half impulse to the balance wheel. At this point, the lever moves across and is locked by the roller and one or other of two Banking Screws. (The latter are out of the picture to the left.) The balance wheel is fastened to the vertical arbor out of the picture above this view. To allow locking, the roller has a rounded cut-out so that the 0.75mm pin (and lever) can swing back and forward. Another picture showing the relative positions more clearly can be seen in my other Clock album. However, I have to admit to a bit of cheating, because this photograph is actually a montage of the two individual views shown next in line.
