This was made from the movable part of a 6 inch Cincinnati Dividing Head tailstock (the fixed part was later used as a very rigid fixture for slotting on a shaping machine). The need for the tailstock arose because Aciera did not provide a tailstock for the dividing chuck - or at least I found nothing in the old catalogues to suggest one was ever provided. The advantage of using it is that the dividing chuck is much more robust than the Aciera universal dividing head and has a higher centre height.
