Self made cymbal lathe from 2010 Not for spin-forming. Used for thinning, tapering and applying grooves to the shaped (by hammering) disc on (usually) both sides. A re-shaped carbide roughing tool is used. It is not held firmly in a tool post, but held somewhat like a wood lathe chisel and allowed to ride on the (sometimes rather less than uniform) surface of the spinning cymbal.
